You may think printer ink cartridges are not very environmentally friendly and you’d be right. Epson ink cartridges use a lot of materials that are simply thrown into landfill when they are used. However ink cartridges for printers such as, Lexmark, Canon and HP ink cartridges, which have a print head integrated into them and this makes it economically viable for third party companies to recycle them. These cartridges are commonly known as remanufactured ink cartridges and they are OEM ink cartridges that have been used, sent to a recycling company, sprinted down and refilled with ink and they repackaged and re-branded and resold. These are cartridges are environmentally friendly because if they are not recycled they would simply end up in landfill. Other types of cartridges like the HP Photosmart D5400 ink cartridges and most other Epson ink cartridges are not economically viable to recycle as they do not contain any expensive components and are simply plastic ink tanks which can be made new a lot cheaper then remanufacturing.
